My Adventure of a Lifetime

I love talking about the United States and the American system. I have really known to love and respect this country. While studying in Madrid, I had the opportunity to spend a semester at a university in the U.S. It was an incredible experience that only lasted 4 months; and for me, that was the first time I could really understand what the American dream is all about. When I returned to Spain, I graduated and started working in Madrid, but after several years I still felt the urge to come back and relive the beautiful experience that filled me with joy years ago. I call it my Adventure of a Lifetime because overnight I quit my job and left my house in Madrid, sold the car I had just bought and moved back to my parents’ house to study for the entrance exam for a master’s degree at a U.S. university. Nowadays, I believe that it was the best decision that I ever made. I spent two of the most precious years of my life in the U.S. And the most important thing is that I continued studying and earned professional experience that has helped me to have a bright future (now my present), something unimaginable years ago. Besides the educational aspect, I have also been positively influenced by the American mentality, which is to be enterprising and to be in competition with yourself improving every day. After “being an American” you feel ambitious and believe that anything is possible and are convinced that you can achieve anything you set your mind on, no matter who you are or where you’re from. I have truly been blessed to have lived the American dream the way I have, and everything that has come my way is thanks to the benefits of receiving an education at a U.S university and of living in this country.

Benefits of studying in the U.S.

There are many benefits of studying a university degree in the U.S. on a personal, academic and professional level. Some of these benefits are still present in my daily life, because at 305 Agency we talk with many students that are in the U.S., and they are not just enjoying themselves but also fully prepared to start their professional careers.

Academic Quality and Standing

The U.S. universities are globally known for the quality of their facilities, their economic resources, the scholarships they provide and for the quality of professors and their involvement. The existing competitiveness between them and their aim to maintain the world leadership in terms of education ensure the strong education and work system of the universities.

Return on Investment (ROI)

A university education in the U.S. is a great investment in the long run for the future of any student. The expenses are much higher than the vast majority of Spanish or European universities, but there are many ways to cut costs thanks to scholarships or financial aids. At the same time, the education received by the student along with other benefits will offer him/her a privileged situation to start off a professional career.

Internationalization Years

Having to adapt themselves quickly to a completely different life makes the students who move to the U.S. mature faster. Being so far away does not allow them to depend on their parents or friends, and although the adaptation process is powered by dreams and enthusiasm, it makes them mature. Apart from this personal growth, living abroad a few years makes them be more open-minded regarding other cultures and mindsets and provides them with a more global vision and different perspectives.

Perfect English, written and spoken

Speaking English is necessary and imperative, and the easiest way of achieving a perfect English level is spending a few years abroad. Studying in the U.S. does not only enable you to improve your spoken English, but also requires you to read and write perfectly. An outstanding level of English is a must in this globalized world, where oral and written communication is mainly done in English.

Personal Experience

Cultural diversity is part of the university life in the U.S.; students from many different nationalities are gathered on university campuses, adding an incredible personal and social experience to the adventure.

Scholarship System

The great thing about the U.S. system is that if someone is qualified or earned it, that person will receive financial help. There are academic, sport, e-sport, artistic, international scholarships, and many more, granted by the universities themselves. The most prestigious universities have an admission process called “need-blind admission”, where the evaluation is based on the academic credentials of a student and not his ability to pay for it. If the student gets into the university and has no money to pay for it, the university will cover the costs for him/her to be able to study there. There have been thousands of cases like this one and I will publish more posts on different success stories soon.

We at 305 Agency have experienced these benefits for ourselves, and that’s why we’ve made it our mission to fulfill the dreams of other students and have them live their own American dream. Now it’s your turn!
